Hays County judges asked the court to accept a Judicial Commission on Mental Health grant of $165,000 to fund a grant‑funded behavioral health court liaison position (effective Sept. 1, 2026). Judge Elaine Brown said the liaison will help divert people with behavioral health needs from the criminal justice system and provide continuity of care.
The court also authorized MOU and contract amendments with a slate of community providers (Access to Mental Health Care PLLC and several specialty and recovery providers) to support outpatient treatment and specialty services. Commissioners praised the contract stewardship and the focus on connecting court‑involved individuals with treatment alternatives.
