Commissioners introduced a resolution recognizing Fleet Week (April 15–22) and described it as the first jurisdiction event of its kind in the area tied to the nation's 250th anniversary. The presenter said the week would include ship tours, community expos and ceremonies, and named local partners and events including wreath-laying ceremonies at the Harris County War Memorial and the Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
An organizer said more than two years of planning and over 80 organizations contributed to more than 100 engagements for the public. A military representative and Captain Madison Miller, U.S. Marine Corps, thanked Harris County for the welcome and emphasized opportunities for residents to meet service members. "Fleet Week is a unique opportunity to strengthen that connection between our military and the community," Captain Miller said. Organizers asked residents to consult fleetweekhouston.com for schedules and free, family-friendly events.
