Glenn Heights adds SilverSneakers access at community center for Medicare Advantage members

Council heard a presentation on March 24 introducing SilverSneakers, a fitness program operated by Tivity Health and included with certain Medicare Advantage plans. Parks & Recreation Superintendent Barrett Albright said the program went live at the Glenn Heights Community Center on March 9 and that eligible seniors with a Tivity Health membership can access the weight room, cardio room, basketball court and walking track at no cost.
Albright explained the verification process (present ID card or provide name, date of birth and ZIP to look up membership on Tivity’s site) and the reimbursement mechanism: the city tracks scans and may receive roughly $3 per scan up to a $30 monthly cap per participant. He also described staff SOPs for sign-in and offered printed guides for staff to follow. Council discussed outreach strategies — digital signage, direct emails to facility users (Active Net list ~4,000 addresses), water-bill notices and senior programming consolidation — to increase participation among seniors who may not use social media.
