During the visitors' comment period, three people addressed the council. Doug Sheldon introduced himself and said he will bring future zoning and enforcement topics to the council after serving on a zoning committee. "I'm Doug Sheldon. I live on the North Side of town," he said and said he will appear at future meetings with community concerns.
Daniel Burke introduced SBK Dump and Demo, describing the company as a family and veteran‑owned demolition business serving Brazoria County and offering to work with the city. Raymond Bennett described a neighbor’s lay‑down area where contractor dirt has been compacted and is now level with his four‑foot fence; he said the mound creates a levee between his yard and the neighboring ditch and asked staff to inspect drainage before hurricane season.
The mayor and staff thanked the speakers for bringing the matters to the council’s attention and the city manager said staff would follow up on the drainage concern.
