La Habra staff used the Feb. 11 meeting to preview special events through April and outline program proposals for the 2026–27 fiscal-year budget.
The events calendar notes a senior dance, Lunar New Year activities at the Children’s Museum, Read Across America, La Habra races and student government day. Staff described proposed new programs for next fiscal year: a Dia de los Muertos event, an Art in the Park festival at Portela Park in partnership with the La Habra Art Association (artists, vendors, music), a kite-festival series with workshops, and a dog-park paver program. Staff said proposals will be packaged in the department’s budget request for Council consideration; if approved by Council the department will begin detailed planning and seek sponsorships and grant matches when possible.
Staff also described plans to convert the soon-to-be-vacated Women’s Club/Art Association building into a small satellite senior center with an enclosed breezeway for easier access, a possible computer lab, furnishings and programming. Staff said bids from contractors are being solicited and costs are being estimated.
