County authorizes relocation application for Masonic Lodge marker and schedules Brazos Pointe dedication planning

Sandra Neely, chair of the Johnson County Historical Commission, asked the court to authorize submitting an application to relocate a Texas Historical Commission marker that had been removed from the Cleburne Masonic Lodge during remodeling and is currently in Austin.
Neely said the Texas Historical Commission retrieved the marker; the historical commission has completed maps, photographs and the required paperwork to request the marker be placed in the grassy area of the adjacent county parking lot. The court authorized the judge and Ms. Neely to sign and move forward with the application and agreed facilities would coordinate installation and final location approval.
Separately, the historical commission reported a newly approved site marker for the Brazos Pointe Bridge is in county storage and the commission proposed an unveiling and dedication ceremony in October or November, possibly coordinated with a commissioners court meeting. The commission also noted progress on acquiring new stands and handouts for the dedication and on relocating donated historical books to area libraries.
Why it matters: the actions return a piece of local historical fabric to public display and set a public dedication timeline while coordinating county facilities for installation.
