County to contribute up to $5.14 million to Hulen Street railroad separation with Burleson

Johnson County approved an interlocal agreement March 9 with the City of Burleson to support the Hulen Street railroad grade-separation project. Mr. Friedrich, a Burleson representative, said the City approved the interlocal on February 16 and will handle design, right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation. He told the court the county's contribution will be limited to a number not to exceed $5,140,000.
Judge Barker said the project addresses a frequently flooded low-water crossing and improves connectivity to the toll road. Commissioners supported the interlocal and noted the city's willingness to manage the administrative burden and pursue grant opportunities; the court approved the agreement unanimously and authorized the judge and auditor to sign.
