Chair told the commission she will follow up with the city manager about establishing a supplier-diversity program and suggested an initial procurement meeting to review vendor trends and create outreach materials for underserved vendors. Chair said, "I made a note to follow-up with city manager James about establish help establish supply diversity program," and commissioners agreed this could include workshops and a guide to simplify the bid process for new vendors.
Commissioners also reviewed upcoming proclamation sponsorships and dates, assigning outreach leads for April and May proclamations including neurodiversity, teacher appreciation week and older Americans month. Staff agreed to prepare proclamation drafts and to include the small-business working group and the EDC in further outreach planning.
