Council adopts Hurst Boulevard corridor redevelopment plan; NCTCOG urges design engineering next steps

Council considered a redevelopment vision for State Highway 10 (Hurst Boulevard) prepared by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) with consultant support and accepted the plan by resolution. The plan frames priorities for transportation mobility (sidewalks, bike lanes, trail connections), intersection safety and placemaking, and it identifies western, central and eastern catalyst sites for possible redevelopment and economic investment.
Travis Liska, transportation planner with NCTCOG, described community engagement, existing-condition findings and priority recommendations and told the council the next step would be technical design work. "So up to 1,000,000 in design engineering," Liska said of a recommended initial engineering investment for a western catalyst area. After council questions about safety and design, a member moved to adopt Resolution 19-18 accepting the study; the motion carried by voice vote.
