TCC students, international visitor attend Hurst council meeting; visitors praise civic process

A sizable group of students from a Texas government class at TCC attended the April 28 meeting and several students took turns introducing themselves to the council and requesting signatures for class assignments. Students described the session as engaging and said they had expected a longer, less interesting meeting; staff arranged a group photo and indicated the pro tem would sign their attendance sheets.
Earlier in the public-comment period a visitor who said he served in the French parliament addressed the council, praised the city’s civic engagement and asked to meet staff after the meeting. The mayor invited the visitor to speak after the session. Several students noted the signage discussion and other agenda items as particularly interesting.
