Public Works described the Brown Trail construction-improvement project—covering Queensway north to Shady Lake Drive and sections adjacent to the LD Bell High School campus—and said the city received 10 bids. Robert Saceda said the schedule was coordinated with HEB ISD and the project timing was chosen to minimize school impacts; the contractor committed to repaving sections of Pleasant View damaged by project traffic when work is complete.
Council approved the construction contract with McMahon for $2,820,831.34 plus a contingency of $79,168.66 for a total authorization of $2,900,000 and a construction duration of 370 calendar days. Council members noted some funding will come from Tarrant County transportation bonds for Brown Trail and Pipeline Road sections.
