Sheriff's association thanks court for approving SWAT honor guard incentive pay

Representatives of the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Association addressed the court to thank elected officials and staff for approving SWAT On Guard incentive pay. Jesse Campos, association president, singled out county leadership, chief of staff and the sheriff's department leadership for facilitating the incentive. "On behalf of our hardworking deputies ... thank you for knowing what you have done for our department," Campos said.
Esteban Villanueva, introduced as a SWAT sergeant, told the court the incentive "is more than just paperwork" and "is a recognition of the unique risks, training demands, and readiness our SWAT team and honor guard maintains every single day." He said the pay will help retain experienced members and attract new talent. The court received the remarks and recorded them in the meeting minutes; no vote was needed beyond earlier approval referenced by the speakers.
