Hidalgo County approves $1.7 million drain contract and multiple heavy-equipment purchases

District staff also explained a series of cooperative purchases to replace and expand the districtfleet, citing budgeted funds and grant participation. "We had over $4,000,000 worth of grant money," a staff presenter said while outlining a 75/25 funding participation for a multi-phase grant. Commissioners approved purchases including track loaders, a telescopic handler, tractors, boom mowers and specialty attachments through purchasing cooperatives and Sourcewell contracts.
Several other construction-related payments and completion certificates were accepted during the Drainage District portion of the meeting, and the court authorized staff to advertise an RFP (ACDD1260060303ESC) for multiple drainage crossing improvements across three precincts. The board recorded motions and carried them by voice vote; items were frequently noted as "subject to final legal review" on the record.
