Lake Jackson honors outgoing Mayor Gerald Rosnowski at final council meeting

Gerald Rosnowski, mayor of the City of Lake Jackson, received tributes and symbolic gifts at his final council meeting on May 18, 2026. Council members presented a key to the city, a commemorative gavel and a blanket; staff and family members delivered remarks highlighting his years of service and local partnerships. "I've learned a lot," Rosnowski said, reflecting on his time in office.
Family members spoke at length during a special presentations segment. Lindsey, introduced by the dais, described Rosnowski’s 37-year career at Dow Chemical and urged council to carry forward the mayor’s focus on community engagement. Leslie, who identified herself as his oldest daughter, recalled her father's community involvement and presented a pencil portrait as a gift. The council also recognized volunteer public-safety personnel; Chief Jason McCain of the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department was noted during remarks and a white chief’s helmet was presented in recognition of volunteer service.
The presentations were ceremonial; no formal policy decisions were taken as part of the farewell. The council closed the presentations portion of the meeting and proceeded to regular business, including certification of election results and routine agenda items.
