The City of Lake Jackson council voted to approve a resident request to disannex roughly 16.79 acres located at the far western end of County Road 698.
City staff told the council the parcel has not been provided city utilities and that staff does not have immediate plans to extend service. During the discussion a staff speaker noted the property currently yields approximately "$3.03" in city taxes according to the documents presented. The property owner answered council questions about the site’s location and its drainage-reserve designation with the Angleton Drainage District.
Councilwoman Seth moved to approve the disannexation request; Councilman Buell seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Mayor (presiding) said staff would draft a letter and attach the meeting minutes to complete the procedural step required to remove the parcel from the city’s corporate limits.
The council did not debate a fiscal offset or any immediate utility extension; staff said the city could pursue residential-assistance avenues if later investigations show illegal ties or other issues that warrant enforcement or outreach.
