Court approves amendment to Flock Safety agreement; law enforcement cites solved cases

The court approved an amendment to the county's Flock Safety agreements that will replace some portable cameras with permanent installations and reduce the county's net annual Flock costs. Mr. Massey, who presented the item, said the department has used Flock cameras to assist criminal investigations and to review a recent traffic crash captured on camera; he told commissioners the change will ultimately reduce annual costs.
"We've used flock to solve 5 murders within Johnson County and recover numerous stolen vehicles," Massey said during the discussion, and he asked the court to approve the amendment to convert cameras to permanent locations. The court moved, seconded, and approved the contract amendments unanimously; staff noted a grant application for FY 2027 is pending and the county will save on ongoing costs through the conversion of hardware and licenses.
