Texas Health Resources details $100,000 in local grants and Seeds to Success youth program

Representatives of Texas Health Resources presented the Southern Region's community-impact work and a two-phase grant program focused on mental health and nonmedical drivers of health.
Erin (speaker 5) said that between 2019 and 2024 the regional program awarded $18.2 million across five regions and that "in Johnson County specifically, we received about $1,200,000 of those dollars." She explained that the current competitive planning grant cycle awarded $200,000 across two counties, with roughly $100,000 going to Johnson County, and outlined Phase 2 implementation awards.
Gracie (speaker 6) and Molly (speaker 7) described Seeds to Success, a collaborative led by REACH Council, which provides one-on-one mentorship, peer support groups, skill-building workshops and prosocial activities for ages 15'25 in target ZIP codes (Cleburne, Keene, Rio Vista and Alvarado). Gracie noted a 2024 statistic used to justify the program, that "18 percent of our youth ages 16 to 19 in Johnson County are not enrolled in school or employed," which the presenters said exceeded state and national rates.
Commissioners thanked the presenters and asked staff to post the RFP schedule and regional webinar dates to encourage nonprofit participation.
Ending: Presenters offered follow-up materials, and staff said the next request for proposals would open in April with a regional webinar on April 16.
