Court approves data-sharing MOU to let public-safety agencies share Soma Global cloud data

Johnson County approved a data-sharing memorandum of understanding to let participating public-safety agencies share CAD, MCT and records data via the Soma Global platform; participation is optional and some entities will join later.
Johnson County Commissioners on May 11 authorized data-sharing agreements to allow county public-safety agencies, constables and partner entities to share CAD, mobile command and records data through the Soma Global cloud platform.
Staff described the MOU as enabling agencies to choose which parts of their data they will share and with whom. The presenter said, “This agreement allows every agency to share data with the other agencies,” and explained the MOU gives local department heads the ability to control sharing settings. The court approved the item unanimously.
Officials noted that a few partners (Ria Vista and Alvarado ISD) had technical or review processes delaying their signatures and that those entities may attach later. The agreement authorizes but does not require individual agencies to share data; technical controls and agency-level decisions will govern participation.
