The steering committee discussed updating its roster to include additional business and property-owner representatives drawn from the corridor’s four quadrants—Folly Beach Conservation Area, Neighborhood Preservation, South Village/Commercial Core, and North Village—so each segment has a designated stakeholder voice. Committee members said property owners often understand drainage, engineered stormwater and parking configurations in ways general public commenters may not.
Committee member Joe Walters urged adding representatives who own property in the separate quadrants, and warned that connecting parking lots or altering curbs could create stormwater problems if properties lack engineered drainage. "Not all of the properties have engineered stormwater drainage," he said, arguing that property owners can bring practical, technical insight to planning conversations. The chair asked Walters to work with the COG and staff to identify suggested stakeholders to add to the roster.
