The council approved staff's request to proceed with design and permitting for the Neighbors Drive sidewalk project after the town was awarded $230,000 from the Transportation Sales Tax (TST) committee. Mayor Brooke Lyon said the town had previously set aside $235,000 in its capital budget, giving roughly $465,000 to start the project.
Engineer Laura Cabiness told the council the project will connect recent Harborview sidewalks to the neighborhood network and is important for pedestrian safety; the award covers a sizable portion of the estimated project cost and is earmarked specifically for Neighbors Drive. The council moved, seconded and voted unanimously to approve the contract to begin design and permitting work.
