City finalizes new-well design, schedules well online as part of water system upgrades

Scott Christen told the town-hall audience that the city had finalized engineering for a new well on city-owned property and had received TCEQ approval to construct. He said the new well will replace the aging Lake Vista well (constructed in 1969) and provide redundancy and increased capacity for the system.
Christen said staff anticipate bringing the new well online in October and described plans to plug and retire the existing Lake Vista well after the replacement is operational. He also outlined a $1.9 million program to replace AC (concrete) distribution mains with PVC ahead of the Phase 3 street reconstruction to avoid rebuilding a street over new buried infrastructure.
