Hidalgo County Commissioners on Tuesday adopted a proclamation honoring Rio Grande Regional Hospital after it was listed among Modern Healthcare’s Top 100 academic hospitals.
Lourdesk, identified in the agenda as the hospital’s CEO, accepted the proclamation and framed the honor as recognition of local clinical work and academic partnerships. “Being recognized as a top academic hospital affirms that high quality care, complex care, and clinical learning can thrive here in Hidalgo County and in the entire Rio Grande Valley,” the CEO said. The court voted unanimously to approve the proclamation.
The hospital presentation highlighted a long-standing affiliation with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine and said the award reflects clinical outcomes, patient experience, and operational performance. County leaders said the recognition supports retention of medical talent and local access to specialized care.
The court took the proclamation as an affirmation of the county’s efforts to support regional healthcare infrastructure; a ceremonial photograph followed the vote.
