Johnson County endorses green-and-blue option for NTTA 360 extension amid concerns about homes and floodplain impacts

Commissioners discussed tradeoffs among right-of-way complexity, flood-plain bridge work, and impacts to existing residences and undeveloped land. Multiple members expressed reluctance to select an option that would take existing long-term residences; one commissioner said he preferred the alternatives that spared homes and existing neighborhoods. After debate about bridge miles and deliverability, Commissioner White moved to approve Resolution 2026-11 recommending the green + blue alignment; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The court emphasized that NTTA and developers retain decision-making authority and that alignment options remain subject to change; Vanderlyn directed community members to NTTA's public materials for further details. The court asked county staff and the county attorney to ensure the selected resolution language aligns with NTTA's final materials before signing.
