Staff also reviewed an updated election sign policy map that clarifies where campaign signs and canopies are permitted around voting locations and the 100‑foot marker; staff noted the county has reserved the civic center for elections through 2028 but will provide an alternate map if early voting must be held at the library in any year. Council discussed minor clarifications to the map to avoid sign placement confusion.
On construction updates, the city’s construction manager reported progress on the animal shelter: windstorm review changes were accepted, required structural steel (red iron) had been ordered and was expected within a week, and most building panels and sheet metal trusses were on site. Staff said they have not yet revised the contract completion date but acknowledged schedule risk tied to deliveries.
