County facilities update: juvenile center paving and ME renovation near completion; 110 Building predevelopment meeting scheduled

Cody Sibley, Johnson County's facility management director, briefed the court on several ongoing construction and renovation projects, including the 110 Building predevelopment, sheriff's office and juvenile center renovations, and the medical examiner facility.
Sibley said the 110 Building team will meet with city staff this week on predevelopment coordination and noted the architect removed the elevator from the grant package at the state's request. He reported substantial progress at the sheriff's office: significant paving work completed, awnings in place and preparations for oversized storefront entrances and a loading dock. For the juvenile remodel, Sibley said crews are raising the ceiling and working on a new lobby and flooring.
The medical examiner renovation had been delayed by plumbing and electrical permitting, but Sibley said permits had been approved and contractors were poised to begin work once fee assessment was complete; the contractor estimated about 60 days and mid‑August completion. The sheriff/juvenile project manager provided a worst‑case completion date of mid‑September, though Sibley said earlier completion is hoped for. CMU block deliveries and awning installations were among items in the four‑week look‑ahead schedule.
The court thanked Sibley for the update and asked staff to present detailed site plans and scheduling updates to the workshop when available.
