County hears update on SCAT park and regional training center; ribbon cutting set Feb. 27

Councilman J.J. Cruz reported Jan. 27 committee activity and told the council the ED committee is considering a donation to the DIG STEM Building Project, with a final figure to be decided after the Feb. 11 meeting. The minutes note that the Tema Manufacturing building is now paid in full, which clears EDC obligations related to that property.
Tyson Jackson from the SCA told the council that work on the SCAT park is moving forward and that the regional training center in Allendale will support industries across the region with hands-on programs such as welding certifications and forklift training. "The SCA will be holding a ribbon cutting for the training center this Friday, February 27th, at 10:00 a.m.," the minutes record; Jackson said classes should begin in March and scholarships are available.
