Barnwell County Council voted Feb. 10 to make an area available for a new mobile-home dealership that will operate under the name "SC Homes of Barnwell." Mr. Polk, who presented the request, said the site will be separated from a nearby school and that "there will be separation with nice chain link fencing around the parameters. The front will be a nicer fence and will include the driveway." Councilman Travis Hooper made the motion to allow the zoning area, Councilman David Kenner seconded it, and the motion carried.
Council members noted they could revisit the zoning if the dealership later closed and the property required rezoning. Mr. Polk will draft a letter and send it to Chairman Freddie L. Houston Sr. for approval, a procedural step the council requested to document conditions around fencing and site access. The council recorded no further debate on the request and moved on to other business.
