Staff walked the commission through the February–April special events calendar and encouraged commissioner participation and promotion.
The Children’s Museum will host Lunar New Year activities throughout its regular hours and the museum charges general admission; staff noted resident and discount rates. Kim also highlighted a senior dance (with popular chocolate fountain) and an employee awards banquet for which commissioners can RSVP. Kim said a Mexican American heritage presentation, part of Centennial celebration programming, is planned for March 28 at the La Habra High School Performing Arts Center and that staff will request Council funding for associated costs such as lighting and technicians.
Commissioners discussed grant and sponsorship opportunities for new events such as Art in the Park, and one commissioner offered to help pursue a Parks California grant to support arts programming. Staff said community outreach materials (flyers and social media) will be prepared after council approvals.
