“This is actually just an update. We haven't received the final, signed contract from the school board,” the finance staff member said, and noted conversations about a proposed increase that staff characterized as a total of about $28,000 but, on an apples‑to‑apples basis, closer to $15,000. The proposal would expand the SRO program from five officers to seven, including one supervisor, which contributed to the cost increase.
Given the evolving status, a committee member moved to send the item to the agenda work session so the council can review further; that motion passed by voice vote. Staff said the school board expects to take the matter to its board in the coming weeks and will provide any signed agreement when available.
