The Community Services Commission voted to forward its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding recommendations to the La Habra City Council for final approval.
Staff outlined requests and subcommittee recommendations during the meeting. Kim, a staff member in Community Services, summarized key requests: "La Habra Veterans Drop-In Resource Center requested $10,000; our subcommittee recommended $3,000," and noted other applicants including the Fair Housing Foundation and Mercy House. Commissioners and subcommittee members discussed limited available funds and small reallocations between line items to accommodate priority services.
A subcommittee member described the deliberations that produced the recommendations, saying the two subcommittee proposals were "so close" and that adjustments were largely a matter of moving a small amount between columns. The commission voted to accept the recommendations and instructed staff to bring the package to the City Council; staff indicated Council consideration is expected in April. The commission’s action was a forward recommendation only—final appropriation and any changes will be decided by the City Council.
