The board approved staff’s recommendation to revise the scope of the Pecan Street improvement project so the design runs from West Street to FM 1660 (rather than continuing to College Street), and to include the previously discussed Main Street and West Street parking and sidewalk improvements. Staff said the change reduces utility relocation complexity and improves chances of completing design within the $500,000 budget.
Board members discussed preferring consistent design features—wider sidewalks and angled parking to match East Street— and asked that the motion’s language explicitly reference those elements. The board voted to approve the revised scope and to have the EDC manage the project in order to expedite procurement and reduce "staff creep" from other departments; the motion passed 5–0.
