Commissioners approve Head Start expansion and early-voting schedule for May election

The Head Start presenter said the program will include 124 Head Start classrooms and 30 Early Head Start classrooms and will work with Donna ISD, Edinburg ISD, McAllen ISD, Mercedes ISD, Mission CISD, Monte Alto ISD, PSJA ISD and Vanguard Charter School; the court approved the request by motion. Separately, Hilda Salinas from Elections reminded the court that the last day to register to vote for the May 2 uniform election is April 2 and that early voting runs April 20'April 28 (with a legal holiday closure on April 21); commissioners approved early-voting polling locations for the May 26 joint primary runoff.
The approvals were passed by voice vote and county staff will proceed with necessary enrollment and election logistics.
