McFadden said such resolutions help raise awareness of domestic violence prevention work across the county and thanked the court and community partners for coordination. A court member cited national statistics during remarks, saying roughly one in three teens experience dating violence and that about 1.5 million U.S. high-school students are physically abused by a partner each year.
The court adopted the resolution as part of the resolutions block. McFadden and other county officials noted available services and partnerships — for example, counseling resources at Bayland Community Center provided through Baylor College of Medicine — and urged teens and families to seek help when needed.
