Monongalia County youth showcase livestock projects ahead of weekend shows

Representatives of the Monongalia County Youth Livestock Association presented schedules for multiple shows taking place the coming weekend at the Mon County Center and Camp Muffley and invited commissioners and the public to attend. The presenter noted the association’s volunteers, 4‑H and FFA members, and thanked county staff and center personnel for their support.
Several youth spoke about their projects and what they have learned. Nine‑year‑old Logan Triplett introduced himself and his steer, Oliver: "My steer's name is Oliver. He was born on our farm in March," he said, describing the hours of training and care required to prepare an animal for show. Isabella Poe, a senior preparing to enter law school after studying counseling, said livestock projects "teach young people far more than how to care for an animal," emphasizing responsibility, leadership and financial lessons.
Commissioners praised the youth, encouraged attendance at shows and thanked organizers for their work supporting agricultural education in the county.
