Council delays Citizens Police Advisory Committee appointments, asks for broader outreach

Councilmembers expressed concern that CPAC had been dormant and asked staff to run an aggressive outreach effort to encourage applicants with victim‑advocacy or social‑work experience. Councilmember Allen requested a focused recruitment push before the next meeting; the council moved, seconded and voted 6–0 to table action on the appointments until the May 19 meeting to allow time for additional advertising and an ordinance review. The mayor named a nomination for place 4 (Chuck Benson) while other seats were deferred for further recruitment and review.
