The Highway Committee approved a motion on Jan. 7 to use equipment-fund money to replace a 2014 highway shop truck that was totaled in an accident, with a replacement budget not to exceed $25,000. Insurance proceeds for the totaled vehicle were reported at roughly $12,000.
Committee members discussed the equipment fund balance (reported at just under $200,000) and reviewed prior borrowing of about $3.1 million; members directed that borrowing resolutions be updated to reflect revised expenditure amounts in construction and equipment categories within the overall borrowing. The motion to authorize up to $25,000 in equipment-fund spending was moved by Jordan Spacek and seconded by Doug Erickson and carried.
Separately, staff reported two new Freightliner trucks are expected for delivery in February and that two body builds by Scott's Truck and Trailer for Universal Equipment exceeded the borrowed amount by just under $6,000.
