The Billings County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved Resolutions 2026-01 through 2026-10 at its Jan. 6 meeting, formalizing a slate of county appointments, establishing regular meeting dates for 2026, and adopting administrative policies. Auditor Marcia Kessel presented the resolutions and the board voted to approve them without dissent.
Resolutions named Jared Gietzen and Olivia Krebs as State’s Attorney, Kyle Shockley as Emergency Manager, Juliana Hammerstrom as Magistrate, Stacey Swanson as Tax Director and Zoning Inspector, and Patrick Redmond as Highway Superintendent, among other appointments. The resolutions also set courthouse hours and holidays and authorized administrative spending and investment authorities. The board set maximum salaries for positions including commissioners ($33,416.54), sheriff ($119,297.79), auditor/treasurer ($105,636.79) and a range of department salaries detailed in the resolutions. The motion to adopt Resolutions 2026-01 through 2026-10 was moved by Commissioner Klym, seconded by Commissioner Haag and carried unanimously.
