Members of Barnwell County's Health and Safety Committee and Administrator Roger Riley met with Piedmont Medical Services (Augusta, GA) to explore options for emergency medical services in the county. Councilman Travis Hooper described the meeting as positive and said Palmetto Medical Services will gather data to help determine the best approach for Barnwell County.
Hooper said he left the meeting with a "positive attitude" and called Piedmont a "class act," and Councilman J.J. Cruz and Administrator Riley were reported to have taken part in the conversation. Council members said they expect a follow-up report, possibly in February, on options and next steps for emergency-care delivery in the county.
