The Vernon County Board on Jan. 20 authorized a grant application to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for up to $150,000 to fund a relocation incentive program aimed at attracting workers aged roughly 25–54 with incomes of $55,000 or more. Community Development Director Oliver presented the proposal and Supervisor Olson moved adoption; Supervisor Lawler seconded and the resolution passed by voice vote.
The county intends to provide the required 20% local match from its Grant Match Support Program, with Ho-Chunk Nation funding identified as the match source. According to the resolution, the Community Development Department will administer the grant if awarded and the application deadline was listed as Jan. 30, 2026.
