Kalkaska commissioners cancel Aug. 26 911 meeting, set bid review for Sept. 11

Commissioner Truman Bicum moved to cancel the 911 Dispatch meeting that had been scheduled for Aug. 26, 2024; Commissioner Robert Baldwin supported the motion and the board recorded 6 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent, carrying the motion. Commissioner David Comai later moved to reschedule the next meeting — described as for reviewing recommendations and/or awarding bids for central dispatch equipment — for Sept. 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM; Baldwin again supported the motion and the board approved it 6-0-1.
The decisions were procedural: the board did not award any contracts at the Aug. 22 session. The meeting record notes that county staff and the sheriff’s office will return with recommendations and that the Sept. 11 meeting is intended to allow time to review vendor proposals and cost comparisons.
