County staff (Christian, S16) told commissioners the FY2027 court security contract follows standard state terms and includes a state contribution toward courthouse security. "For the record, the state will pay a $147,210.36 to go towards the providing of security at the district court," Christian said, adding that past state amounts have not always covered all sheriff costs but that the payment provides substantial assistance.
Commissioners moved and passed approval of the updated court security contract. Staff said the amount is based on a statewide administrative rate applied by the Administrative Office of the Courts and that the county has attempted to negotiate higher contributions previously but this is the best available statewide figure.
