Organizers report strong growth at 2026 Carbon County Fair and Black Diamond Rodeo

"We saw a noticeable growth in the fair and the rodeo this year in participation, in attendance, in sponsorships, and overall community engagement throughout the weekend," Courtney said.
The presentation included specific participation figures: 5K registrations rose from 9 to 27; motocross entrants increased from roughly 97 to about 160 (a reported 65% increase); fishing-competition organizers reported 82 of 100 tagged fish were returned; rodeo contestants rose from about 105 last year to more than 150 this year. Organizers also said payouts increased by 41% and that sponsorship revenue and ticket sales were higher than in prior years.
Organizers recognized volunteers, maintenance staff and partners — naming Jeremy, Justin, Chad, Zach, Lacey, Bill, Gary and Annie as the fair MVP team — and said some revenue will be reinvested in facility improvements. Commissioners thanked the team and attendees and said planning for 2027 will begin soon.
