Commissioners were briefed on the Fairgrounds Road improvements funded through a UDOT joint highway grant awarded in 2022. Brent Hatfield said engineering continued into 2025, bids were accepted recently, and construction is expected to begin in about 60 days. "We should see it happen start within 60 days or about," Hatfield said.
The county clarified the funded scope will extend from Westwood Boulevard to the Canal Crossing; the county road department may perform additional widening and asphalt overlay work beyond the funded segment. Commissioners emphasized the work is separate from any privately proposed developments in the area and urged clear public communication.
