County honors two residents with Heart and Character awards

The Carbon County Board of Commissioners presented Heart and Character Awards to two community members during the meeting.
Rochelle Blank of Active Reentry introduced comments from consumers praising Terry Lanik, whom Blank identified as Active Reentry’s executive director. Blank read statements from six consumers describing Lanik’s support: one consumer said, "Terry gave me hope and real support," and credited Lanik with helping them through serious mental-health struggles. Lanik accepted the honor and thanked her staff and community members for their support.
Lindsay Ingram introduced Cody for his work at Fierce MMA Gym, saying the gym is “more than a gym” and provides safe space, mentorship and life skills. Cody told commissioners, "This community means everything to me... I'm gonna keep doing everything I can to make this a better place," and accepted the award.
The recognition is symbolic; there was no formal budget action attached to these awards. The board thanked both nominees and noted their examples of volunteerism and community service.
