During the homelessness presentation, staff highlighted that Asheville’s Continuum of Care (COC) is one of ten national communities selected for the Right at Home homelessness-prevention pilot. Jade Dundas said the COC will receive $6,000,000 to serve about 1,000 households over three years with rental assistance, case management and creative problem solving (for example car repairs to preserve employment).
Dundas said the COC has opened a request for applications and will select providers in September, with services expected to begin by December. Council members sought details about eligibility, provider roles and how local funding sources (including ARPA) could complement the pilot; staff committed to follow up with specifics and timeline information.
