"Our current car port doesn't allow me to fit. I just have a Toyota Tundra," Russell said while describing the safety and usability benefits of a closed garage. He added that the proposed two-car garage would be veneered to match the home's front façade so it would not read as a dominant garage face.
Board members discussed the ordinance's intent — to avoid visible garage clutter — and weighed neighborhood precedents. One member noted that while many nearby homes have side-entry garages or visible carports, the planned design includes windows and a matching front veneer that would soften the street-facing elevation. With no public comments submitted through the portal, the board moved and approved the variance by voice vote, 7-0. The applicant was wished good luck as the board closed the item.
