The circuit clerk told the committee the office is in the final phase of a multi-year document-scanning project and requested a budget transfer from the document storage fund to finish scanning and fund upcoming microfilming. The clerk said the office hired more than 40 students over three years to complete scanning and that the project opened vault space and enabled office remodeling.
The clerk said the office previously received some county funding and is now requesting a small additional transfer to finish the work and begin microfilming next year. Committee members praised the cost-saving approach of using student labor rather than third-party vendors. The committee voted to approve the transfer.
