County and town outline sidewalks and bike-ped improvements across James Island

County staff said some projects are in advertising or procurement stages, while others are still completing right-of-way or permit work. For example, the County said it anticipates advertising a Fleming Road sidewalk in the fourth quarter after permitting and that the Folly Road bike-ped improvements may go to procurement within the next month or so.
Leslie said the town has applied for a state earmark for the Neighbors Drive sidewalk and that the city sidewalk backlog exceeds local funds, so state support would accelerate work. County staff noted that higher-than-expected bids can delay awards and that utility coordination often determines schedule.
Officials offered to share presentation slides and encouraged communities to submit project requests through county programs.
