Council members renewed concerns about raised medians DOT proposed along Folly Road and Fort Johnson, saying the town has received numerous citizen complaints about flooding and safety impacts.
"We have done a lot of research on that, and working with DOT sent them a letter requesting some revisions. And just last week, I did receive a letter back, and it doesn't sound like we're gonna get any changes to that," the Chair said, describing the town's next step of consulting counsel about options.
DOT and county staff said design and maintenance constraints contribute to the approach; councilmembers reiterated they want safety prioritized. The town plans to place the matter on a future agenda, and the chair said the council will consider legal options and continuing public engagement before any further public advocacy or formal objections.
No formal vote was taken at the meeting; the council said it will report back after legal consultation and continuing conversations with DOT.
