James Island leaders hopeful as state match may unlock Bayfront drainage fix

"I don't I don't know that I want to call it earmarks but they're doing grama this year for for us it's I believe it's a 20 match and we have it's one that Philip actually met with Melissa and I," the chair said, describing recent coordination with county staff. County and town staff said the project will affect neighborhoods in the Bayfront area across city, county and town boundaries and will likely require further utility work and coordinated permitting before construction can begin. The county presenter later explained that utility coordination and potential conflicts often control schedule and can extend project timelines.
The chair said she would report back to the council with specifics at the next meeting; residents and officials were urged to expect a more detailed update following the Friday meeting.
